throughout 1.08 Will is hallucinating the screams and sounds of wounded, trapped animals in pain, particularly dogs, which he is known to try and rescue whenever they are abandoned or hurt.
i’m having feelings about that being direct reference to Clarice being haunted by the screaming of the lambs and her attempts to rescue them.
